Its flower heads, picked in bud then dried, stay small and tightly closed, of a deep yellow. In the mouth they are distinctly more bitter and more pungent than cultivated Ju Hua, whose scent stays mild and floral: it is the bitterness that separates the two flowers and decides their use, Ju Hua for the infusion of pleasure, Ye Ju Hua for fuller-bodied mixes.
